The PrismaCorp Foundation Condemns Ohio Senate’s Override of Governor’s Veto of HB 68, Affirming Commitment to Transgender Rights

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The PrismaCorp Foundation Condemns Ohio Senate’s Override of Governor’s Veto of HB 68, Affirming Commitment to Transgender Rights

COLUMBUS, OHIO – The PrismaCorp Foundation expresses deep disappointment over the Ohio Senate’s vote to override the Governor’s veto of HB 68, highlighting the disregard for voices opposing the bill. The organization reaffirms its commitment to advocating for transgender rights and announces resources for transgender people who need help.

The action of Ohio’s Senate members who voted to override the Governor’s veto of HB 68 is a clear indication of their disregard for the rights of transgender people. This harmful legislation will have real-world consequences for Ohioans, stripping access to life saving medical care away from transgender people. The PrismaCorp Foundation stands with the transgender community and will continue to fight for their rights.

The PrismaCorp Foundation is committed to fiercely advocating for transgender Ohioans and has compiled a list of resources for transgender people who need help. The following organizations provide support and resources for transgender people in Ohio:

1. The Trevor Project: A national organization that provides crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to LGBTQ+ youth. They offer a 24/7 hotline, text and chat services, and resources for mental health and well-being.

2. TransOhio: A non-profit organization that advocates for the rights of transgender people in Ohio. They provide resources for healthcare, legal assistance, and support groups. You can donate to TransOhio’s Emergency Fund by visiting their donation portal or you apply for emergency assistance here.

3. Equitas Health: A regional organization that provides healthcare and support services to LGBTQ+ people in Ohio. They offer medical care, mental health services, and support groups. Equitas Health has a portal on their site where you can learn more about what is happening and how it affects the transgender population of Ohio here.

What you can do: Tell the Ohio Department of Health how you feel about their proposed restrictions on gender-affirming care. Send an email by Feb. 5 to [email protected]. Please use “Comments on Gender Transition Care Rules” as the subject line of your email.

The PrismaCorp Foundation is dedicated to advocating to ensure that all LGBTQ+ Ohioans can fully access legal and lived equality.
